Bord Bia, a partner agency of SFSI, is at the forefront of world-class sustainability programmes such as Origin Green and associated quality assurance programmes. Origin Green is the only national-scale sustainability programme in the world, uniting government, the private sector and food and drink producers. Today, virtually all of Ireland’s food exports come from producers and processors that are part of the Origin Green programme.

Schemes and services have been devised and implemented in Ireland to make our agriculture ‘climate smart’. This is achieved through optimising land use, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, helping to reduce the impact of nitrates and building productive intensity.   Leading-edge breeding programmes based on genomics, agri-environmental and rural development schemes have created a firm foundation on which to continue to build and develop Ireland’s most important indigenous industry.

SFSI offers the expertise gained in Ireland to partners interested in developing and implementing programmes for sustainable land use.
