SFSI Represent DAFM at Joint Economic Commission (JEC) is UAE
The first meeting of the Ireland - United Arab Emirates Joint Economic Commission (JEC) took place on the 10th December 2025 in Dubai, coinciding with 50 years of diplomatic relations. This marked a significant milestone in strengthening economic ties between the two countries and created a framework for the Ireland-UAE partnership to grow in the years ahead. The JEC emphasises cooperation in six thematic areas:
- Economy, Trade and Investment, including Tourism and SME’s.
- Banking and Finance.
- Industry, Advanced Technology and Innovation.
- Energy Transition and Renewable Energy.
- Logistics, Infrastructure and Transportation Services.
- Environment, Agriculture and Food Security.
SFSI represented DAFM and expressed willingness to explore enhanced cooperation in Agriculture and Food Security. It was agreed to work towards renewing the Memorandum of Understanding on AgriFood Technical Collaboration during Gulfood, the largest food and beverage trade event in the world.
His Excellency H.E. Saeed Bin Mubarak Al Hajeri commended Ireland as a small nation with big values and ambition. The commodities and services traded between the two countries are vital to human and animal health, food and energy security, and the connectivity of people and goods. Tapping into each country's strengths will build on existing success and build sustainable growth.
